Amatsu can be helpful not only for:
- Promoting joint flexibility
Headaches, migraines, jaw pain
Muscle/joint pain
RSI, Tennis/Golfer's elbow
Sciatica
Aiding recovery after injury
Improving digestive issues
Post pregnancy realignment
But can also help reduce stress levels and improve self-esteem
So what is Amatsu?
Amatsu is a soft tissue therapy that assesses and treats aches and pains. It draws on centuries of development from Japanese therapies combined with modern science.
It is a whole body, hands-on therapy that is suitable for most people of all ages and mobilities. There is no cracking and crunching and you are fully clothed throughout each session.
Amatsu is not a set protocol and doesn't just work on the painful symptoms, but instead treats the body as a whole by taking into account the physical strains, repeated postural behaviour, emotional stress and lifestyle habits - these are known as your Godai, as follows:
- physical - injury, strains, muscle/ligament/tendon imbalance
emotional - stress, anxiety, depression, trauma
environmental - occupation, home life, lifestyle, interaction with others, time spent in nature, exercise
chemical - food/drink ingested, hydrated/dehydrated, alcohol, drugs, medication
electrical - TV/mobile phone/pc exposure, nervous system issues
What can I expect from an Amatsu session?
I work in a warm and comfortable treatment room in Hatch End (Tuesday - Thursday, Saturday). There is free parking.
The first Amatsu session is 80 minutes and which includes a detailed medical and lifestyle history taking into account your Godai, followed by a postural assessment (orthopaedic & functional tests). For the remainder of the session you will be lying on a massage couch where I will use a combination of fascia work, massage, acupuncture meridians, muscle testing (kineseology) and joint mobilisation to facilitate the body's movement and free off restrictions to bring it back into alignment. Subsequent sessions are 1 hour.
It's aim is to rebalance the pelvis and body, address muscle imbalances, restore natural movement and make it easier for you to live life more freely.
Amatsu soft tissue therapy can be an exceptionally effective treatment, however, it is not a miracle cure and you may have certain conditions that can only be treated by a medical professional.
How many Amatsu sessions will I need?
I advise my clients to book 6-8 weekly sessions to begin with especially if you have been living with pain or an old injury for some time. The body will have taken on adaptations which need to be worked through thus giving your body a chance to realign, become more mobile and stronger.
My aim is to get you to a level where you may only require sessions to maintain your wellbeing.
